I’m a pretty frequent follower of the Daily Show/Colbert Report scene, but I’m usually at least a week behind on episodes cuz I get busy and forget and stuff, so I just now got around to watching this episode where he has Black Star on to premier their new Madlib-produced track “Fix Up”.
Black Star – Fix Up
Pretty tight. But here’s a song I like even more though that uses that same lyric in a kinda less-pronounced way.
Zion I – Infatuation
Man I really like that video a lot. OK for those that don’t know though (I didn’t until I researched a little), both those songs aren’t actually in reference to each other, they’re both referencing this Dizzee Rascal song that I’d never heard before looking into this.
Dizzee Rascal – Fix Up, Look Sharp
Pretty crazy. I’ve never listened to much Dizzee Rascal in the past, but I kinda dig this one.
It’s weird, I have a soft spot for rappers that speak English but I can’t really understand what they’re saying very well… is that weird? If it’s not, it probably is weird that I’ve never really been able to get into any rap that’s NOT in English (and therefore can’t understand what’s being said very well). Can’t explain it.
