BARE MINIMUM PART ONE – IT DON’ MATTA NO HOW

In honor of the release of “The @MCTREEG EP” today, I want to start a new series I’m calling Bare Minimum.  I think when you hear track one, you’ll understand why.

Tree – Probably Nu It

I didn’t think anyone could still innovate the drum machine + vocals form, but Tree really does it here.  I also like how melodically the 808 is being used now, probably thanks to Mike Will‘s work.  Not every post in this series will use 808s, or even drum machines necessarily, because there are other great ways vocals can be accompanied by raw percussion, but you can guarantee there will be nothing but drums and voice in the following posts.  Stay tuned for Part 2.

  1. Mike Allen says:

I like this idea a lot, Rick. I can think of one very popular example off the top of my head. Looking forward to part 2!
